Question: Was Stalin’s manipulation of the other party members the main reason why he came to power? (PEEL Method)

Yes, Stalin’s manipulation of the other party members is the main reason why she came to power [Point].  But however, there are two other factors that led to his rise to power.  they are outwitting Trotsky [Point] and also Stalin’s personality [Point] himself.

For the manipulation of the other party members, Stalin made and shifted alliances [Point]. Stalin made alliances with Kamenev and Zinoviev to bring Trotsky down by influencing them that he was not interested in the election [Explain]. Stalin also changed alliances after they were not useful anymore and joined Bukhari and Rykor [Elaborate]. By manipulating other party members, Stalin actually got rid of all potential candidates so that he could buy to power and replace Lenin [Link].

Besides manipulating the other party members, Stalin outwitted Trotsky by exposing Trotsky’s weaknesses [Point]. For example, Trotsky it's not an outspoken person and he doesn't talk much.  thought, he was considered arrogant by several party members [Explain]. Stalin also pretended to be close to Lenin so that he would gain Lenin’s trust and be nominated for the next election [Elaborate]. Therefore, by outwitting Trotsky, Stalin gained popularity as the Russian public preferred him and thus rise to power through popularity [Link].

Stalin also gave Trotsky the wrong date for Lenin’s funeral [Point]. Thus, Trotsky appeared disrespectful to Lenin by not being present for the funeral [Explain] whilst Stalin made appeared to be close to Lenin as he made a grand funeral for him [Elaborate]. Thus, Stalin gained popularity by making Trotsky less popular [Link].

Lastly, besides manipulation of the other party members by making and shifting alliances, outwitting Trotsky, Stalin’s personality himself made him rise to power  [Point]. Stalin is a good organiser and not seen as arrogant unlike Trotsky amongst the public as Stalin is more outspoken [Explain]. The Russian public prefers Stalin to Trotsky [Elaborate]. and therefore Stalin gained popularity thus he was able to rise to power [Link]. With his popularity, Stalin is now one step closer to gaining power [Link].
